Video Editing
Here are some explanations about the video editing.
All the videos were edited using imovie, including the sounds, which is really user friendly and easy to use.
First I imported the whole footage into imovie and broke it into small clips.
When the video appeareared on the time line, i cut it and deleted unwanted parts.
The two time lines under the video one are for sound and which is be imported into the movie and adjusted to match exactly the scene wanted (e.g. person holding the phone and the noise of the sound ringing at that moment)
The sound was edited using the same method done with the video (cutting it into pieces and selecting the parts wanted or changing the order...)
After importing the video into the timeline, the "black and white" and "aged" effects were added (option on a button on the right of the movie screen).
Whenever the videos were saved, imovie created a folder containing some folders inside (with sounds, effects,...) and it created as well a .mov movie on the same folder. This files are very big (each folder containing around 200 MB) and need to be compressed.
I created 4 different folders into the Movies folder in the server, one with the name of each character. In these folders there were 8 small folders (the ones created by iMovie), each one with the names of the character plus a number from 1 to 8 (times).
The next step is using Cleaner, which is a software used for all kinds of compression.
The folders were dragged from the folder in the desktop into the window at cleaner. To compress all files at the same time (when you want all of them to be equal), they were all selected, then I clicked at "Batch" from the menu bar and then at "Specify Setting".
It appears a big window and on the left is listed all kinds of compression. The one selected was MPEG, then MPEG4, then PAL, then "ISMA Profile 1 1 Mbps download". The same option, but with streaming at the end is only used when something is playing through a server, CD..., which wasn't the case.
On the right hand side there are some options you can choose. For the project, the only one changed was at image (image size). To keep it proporcional, under the space where you can type the number, the option 4:3 has to be chosen.
Since i did all the files togheter, it took a while for them to be compressed. The final size of the videos was around 2 MB.
